An Evening Proposal at Gapstow Bridge - Central Park, NYC

Nick's Surprise Proposal at Central Park's Gapstow Bridge

Gapstow Bridge is one of the busiest spots in all of Central Park because it’s at the southern tip of the park near the Plaza Hotel, a popular tourist destination. However, there are certain times of the day and week where this iconic spot can be all yours. For Nick’s mid-day proposal on a Friday, the park was all theirs.

Paul's Central Park Conservatory Garden | New York Proposal Photographer

Not many people, New Yorkers included, know about Central Park’s Conservatory Garden. Although the iconic landmarks like Bethesda Fountain, Bow Bridge, the model boat sailing pond, and the mall take the lime light, the Conservatory Garden is just as special. Zack and Mia's Central Park Summer Proposal

Zack couldn’t have chosen a more perfect evening to pop the big question, as this late summer evening felt more like an early September day; soft lighting and a cool breeze. I’m so glad I was chosen as their proposal photographer to document a real NYC moment in Central Park. Both of their reactions were so genuine, and having family there to celebrate the moment made everything so much more special.

For tonight’s proposal we timed the moment with the sunset. Zack arrived right on time (No what, matter we always come prepared with a small flash). On tonight’s secret proposal, I still had plenty of daylight to work with as the couple approached and I did not need to use flash, so the element of surprise remained. Once Zack got down on one knee and popped the question I was snapping away.

Jeremy's Surprise Engagement atop Outlook Hill on Governors Island

Photographing a surprise proposal on Governors Island is memorable experience Unlike many parts of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island city where there are tourists everywhere, Governors Island is quiet. Why? Because a ferry is the only way to get to Governors Island and that keeps people away. The views on the island are well worth a quick ferry ride, especially if this is where you are going to propose.
