Henry's Rainy Central Park Proposal

As a New York City proposal photographer, I love capturing the uniqueness of New York City itself, the couples who live here, and those who visit. The Central Park Model Boat Pond is one of the most romantic and relaxed spots in Manhattan, offering stunning views, peaceful reflections on the water, and a classic New York backdrop that feels timeless in any weather.

I documented everything from wide shots of the pond and surrounding trees to close-up portraits of Henry proposing to Madelyn, and then the celebratory moments that followed. After the proposal, we walked through Central Park for a short portrait session, umbrellas in hand, embracing a quietness that only the rain could bring.

There’s something undeniably special about springtime in New York City, and no location captures that magic quite like Central Park. For Mike, none of that mattered more than one thing: asking the love of his life to marry him. During peak bloom, the cherry blossom trees are in full glory, and the tulip beds burst with vibrant color. It’s one of the most picturesque spots in the city for a proposal. On the day of Mike’s planned proposal, the sky opened up and the rain started falling. Many might have postponed. Mike didn’t flinch.

I have photographed inn Central Park countless times, but the Conservatory Garden only a few times. I love discovering this part of Central Park every time I come up to 105 street. Not only is it picturesque and charming, but it also has some unique elements that made for the prettiest backdrops while we walked around, got to know each other, and created beautiful images for these two, and their pup.
