Finding a private and intimate place to propose in NYC is a tricky task, especially during the holiday season. The key to success is finding a controlled environment, somewhere where we can control the crowds and somewhere just off the beaten path. Peyton's Proposal atop Central Park's Cat Rock

Cat’s Rock sits above the Central Park Wollman ice skating rink. This proposal location provides a view of “Billionaire Row” and it’s very conveniently located in the southern part of Central Park, near Gapstow Bridge. I suggest this spot to many clients when they ask about proposing in Central Park and capturing a view of NYC. While the daytime is a great time for photos at Cat’s Rock, dusk as the city lights come lets this spot shine!

Julian's Hoboken Waterfront Proposal

Why should you propose in Hoboken, NJ or Jersey City? If you’re from New Jersey, you see the NYC skyline from a whole different perspective than that of Brooklyn. The Hoboken Waterfront can be a great day trip destination or a morning stroll with its’ unobstructed views of Manhattan. The pro’s of this area are it’s never busy, unlike Brooklyn Bridge Park or Gantry Plaza in Long Island City and there are never tourists here either. The view is always clear and no matter which way you face you are guaranteed to get an amazing view of the NYC skyline.

Chris' Sunrise Gantry Plaza Surprise Proposal

The Long Island City waterfront captures New York City perfectly because of its iconic New York City views; Empire State Building, 59th street bride, the UN and our famous NYC Sunset/SunriseWhat I like most about photographing surprise marriage proposals in Long Island City and Gantry Plaza State Park is how private and intimate this area is when compared to other parts of New York City.

Will's Rainy Central Park Surprise Proposal

The Bow Bridge in Central Park is a very popular place to propose in New York City. However, it's typically very crowded, not private, and the bridge itself can be narrow. On today's surprise proposal, the weather was not ideal, wet and cold, but it kept the park empty for Will's big moment.
