Proposal

Joshua & Alyssa FIDI NYC EMS Proposal

“9-1-1, What is your emergency?” I need a NYC Proposal Photographer ASAP!

When two first responders come to New York City for the very first time. Their experience can be described as larger than life. For Josh, knowing he was going to propose to Alyssa and not being sure when put the pressure on. As a first responder he assured me he’d keep cool.

where to propose in nyc?

I told Joshua about all of the typical spots (Central Park, Grand Central, Battery Park), but he assured me those proposal locations were not true to him. After learning about Joshua and Alyssa’s career as first responders Josh asked about Downtown Manhattan.

The Perfect Place to Propose in New York - Ladies Pavilion Central Park, NYC

New York’s Central Park, A beautiful location to propose in any season: Part II

This past February, I wrote about photographing a secret proposal in Central Park at Cleopatra’s Needle in the dead of NYC winter. A few days ago as I photographed another marriage proposal at Ladies Pavillon with peak spring bloom all around, I couldn’t help but think about how great of a location Central Park is for a secret proposal photo session.

A Photographers Playground: Proposal Photos Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall

No matter the time of day, month, or year, Central Park offers a timeless backdrop for proposal or engagement photography. During Winter, a couple may stand in the middle of a quiet Bow Bridge looking over an elegant sheet of ice covering The Lake, small snow flakes fall around them.

In Spring, they’ll walk through Cherry Hill surrounded with pink and white pastel tones of the Cherry Trees in bloom. On a Summer Eve, They’ll sit in Denne Summerhouse watching the sunset while listening to the Crickets start to signal dusk. Fall, they’ll perch atop of Cat Rock looking over the autumn foliage that fills the park, NYC Skyline peaking through in the distance.

Central Park has hundred of iconic spots like this, each with its own hidden beauty and special meaning for couples that may choose it as the place to signify starting a new life together.

Having an NYC secret proposal photographer hidden nearby to discretely capture this special moment is nearly priceless.

Central Park in Spring = A Sign of Life and New Beginnings

A few days ago I watched Rohan and his fiancée-to-be Nikita enter Ladies Pavilion and Rohan drop to one knee with the cheery blossoms behind them I was reminded why Central Park really is the perfect place to propose and how grateful I am to be a proposal photographer in NYC.

Nikita of course said yes!

It felt only fitting that the two of them start their next cycle of life together as nature starts its own.

Congratulations Nikita and Rohan here is too many more cycles and Springs together.

A True Lincoln Center Performance

A few weeks ago we helped Sachet plan his surprise proposal to his long-time girlfriend Lina. After looking into various locations, we found most had limitations due to COVID. We decided Lincoln Center would serve as the perfect backdrop for their surprise proposal and for their post-proposal photos. Sachet and I planned for a near sunset proposal in the square with the iconic Lincoln Center Theater in the background.

The day came, Sachet rocked it. Lina said yes!

Shawn and Dusty Springtime Central Park Marriage Proposal

How to find and plan a Central Park NY proposal

Shawn reached out to Jonathan Heisler Photography about a month before he and his partner, Dusty, would travel from Colorado to visit New York City. Since it was their first time visiting NYC, for both of them, Shawn needed a well-versed proposal photographer to help plan and photograph the moment.

Does the perfect spot to propose also make great proposal photos?

Knowing that Shawn wanted a quiet spot that still had the essence of NYC, we recommended a private spot in Central Park with a view of the manhattan skyline behind them. Supplying Shawn with reference photos of prior proposals and engagement sessions he had a very good idea of where he’d like to pop the question.

Photographing the planned proposal

On the day of the proposal, I communicated with Shawn to let him know where I’d be hiding and that I had arrived, and was in position before he arrived. Both Jonathan and I, arrive at least 30 minutes before the big moment. As Shawn and Dusty walked through Central Park and approached the agreed upon spot I snapped away. Then, Shawn got down on one knee and asked “Will you marry me?”

Dusty said Yes!

Afterward the big moment and introducing myself, we walked through Central Park, photographing a mini-engagement for the two of them. We picked out a bunch of different and beautiful backgrounds throughout the park, all iconic and unique to New York.
Congrats Dusty and Shawn!

Nick and Aubrey Central Park NYC Proposal

New York City Proposal without the hustle of NYC.

Congrats Nick and Aubrey!

Nick reached out to me one week before he wanted to propose. He didn’t want anything fancy, just an intimate moment for the two of them to share. Together, we picked a quiet spot in the North section of Central Park, “The Pool”, which was private and had shared meaning for the two of them.

No one knows the park better than Central Park Proposal Photographer

After watching the weather and finalizing our plan, the day finally arrived. I made sure to get to The Pool early, so I could find the perfect angle to capture this big moment. I photographed several test shots and made sure my settings were set.

As I saw Nick and Aubrey approach, I made sure the spot was quiet for just the two of them. When Nick spotted me out of the corner of his eye, I put my finger on the camera. Before Nick had even finished kneeling Aubry screamed “YES!” and pulled him up to hug him.

Capture Every Moment. Post proposal we photograph a Mini-Engagement Session.

After giving the Nick and Aubrey their time together, I approached and asked if they wanted to take a handful more photos before they went off to celebrate. I lead them to Glen Span Arch, an “off the beaten path” spot of storybook proportions. Here I quickly shot a mini-engagement session with the two, complete with a few different posses and looks. Before long the two were off to celebrate.

Photos to Share with the World

As soon as I had finished the proposal and mini-session, I quickly selected a handful of photos that showcased the excitement of the moment. I rush edited the images, and texted them to Nick and Aubrey to share with family, friends, and beyond.

Whether you want your proposal photos to feel in the midst of NYC or a quiet moment in the park, we’ll help arrange it for you.
