Carolann and Michael's Southampton Engagement Party

Engagement Parties are a blast to photograph, especially when they’re in unique places like a private Southampton, NY backyard. Having photographed countless proposals, engagement sessions, engagement parties, and rehearsal dinners in New York City, it’s a real treat to leave the city for somewhere new. I started this event by capturing a mini-engagement session with the couple, Carolann and Michael with their Golden Retriever Nash. From there, I went on to photograph family photos and then the details (food, place settings, the backyard setup).

Engagement parties are a mini-wedding

Photographing NYC engagement parties can feel like a mini-wedding, as the guests are typically the most important people in the couple’s lives. These parties involve planning and coordination on every level as well. However, what’s unique is the emotions. On an engagment session and party, there are absolutely no nerves.

Port Washington Long Island Engagement Photographer - Josh & Sydney

Capturing Josh and Sydney’s engagement session in Port Washington, NY was a real throwback for me. I grew up on the North Shore of Long Island and I went to high school with Josh’s sister many years ago. To see how much Josh has grown up and how much the Port Washington waterfront has changed is remarkable. The couple chose Port Washington for their engagement photos not only for the view, but for it’s sentimental location. Just down the road is their favorite pizza shop, Salvatores.

Patrick's Long Island City Engagement Session at Sunset

The Long Island City waterfront captures New York City perfectly with its iconic New York City views; Empire State Building, 59th street bridge, the UN and our famous NYC Sunset/Sunrises. However, what I like most about photographing in Long Island City and Gantry Plaza State Park is how private and intimate this area is when compared to other parts of New York City. Luckily the tourists haven’t figured this out yet!

Tonight’s engagement session with Patrick and Sam during golden hour could not have been any better.

Central Park Conservatory Garden - Springtime Engagement Session

Photographing Brett and Elle’s engagement session up in the Conservatory Garden of Central Park NYC was a real treat. Not many people, New Yorkers included, know about this section of the park. Although the iconic landmarks like Bethesda Fountain, Bow Bridge, the model boat sailing pond, and the mall take the lime light, the Conservatory Garden is just as special to NYC. It’s just a little bit further out of the way.

I have photographed inn Central Park countless times, but the Conservatory Garden only a few times. I love discovering this part of Central Park every time I come up to 105 street. Not only is it picturesque and charming, but it also has some unique elements that made for the prettiest backdrops while we walked around, got to know each other, and created beautiful images for these two, and their pup.

Alex and Sam's Central Park NYC Engagement Session

As Professional New York City Engagement Photographers we are always searching for the perfect couple, the perfect day, the perfect light, and the perfect moment to create the perfect photo. In this city, New York City, a city of millions of people and billions of things, which are constantly changing, we are offered so many different options that perfect can almost be impossible. The possibilities are just endless. Yet, the goal of achieving perfection leaves coming back for more.

On today’s Central Park engagement session with Alex and Sam, I’m confident we found perfect. Their energy together was so genuine and the photos show that. Even though it was cold out everything and everyone came together to make their engagement session perfect.

Kim and Dan's Fall Engagement Session - The full NYC experience

I loved capturing Kim and Dan’s engagement session. We started our session on a warm late fall afternoon on the Upper East Side near Central Park and ended the session in Jersey City for the sun set. Central Park is where they had many of their first dates, while Jersey City is where they signed for their first apartment together.
